Add or Change Payment Methods
Quick path: Settings → Account → Payment Methods → Add card → Save
What this helps you do
Section titled “What this helps you do”Your Bloowatch subscription renews automatically. The payment method on file is the card that gets charged each billing cycle. If that card expires, is lost, or you simply want to use a different one, you can update it at any time from your account settings.
Managing your payment methods ensures uninterrupted service — no failed charges, no surprise account suspensions.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You are logged into Bloowatch as the Owner (only the account owner can manage billing and payment methods)
- You have a valid credit or debit card ready (Visa, Mastercard, or other supported card networks)
1. Go to Settings > Account
Section titled “1. Go to Settings > Account”Click your profile name in the top-right corner and select Settings. Then click Account in the left sidebar.
This is where your subscription plan, billing details, and payment methods are managed.
2. Locate the Payment Methods section
Section titled “2. Locate the Payment Methods section”Scroll down to the Payment Methods area. You will see your current card(s) on file, including the card type, the last four digits, and the expiration date. If a default card is set, it will be marked accordingly.
3. Add a new card
Section titled “3. Add a new card”Click the + Add Payment Method button. A form appears asking for your card details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Card number * | The 16-digit number on the front of your card |
| Expiration date * | The month and year the card expires (MM/YY) |
| CVC * | The 3-digit security code on the back of your card |
| Cardholder name * | The name as it appears on the card |
Enter the details and click Save (or Add). The new card now appears in your list of payment methods.
Tip: You can have multiple cards on file. This is useful if you want a backup card in case your primary one fails.
4. Set a default payment method
Section titled “4. Set a default payment method”If you have more than one card, you can choose which one is charged on renewal. Click the Set as default option (or the star/checkmark icon) next to the card you want to use as your primary payment method.
The default card is the one that will be charged automatically when your subscription renews.
5. Remove an old card
Section titled “5. Remove an old card”To remove a card you no longer need, click the Remove (or trash icon) next to that card. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Watch out: You cannot remove your only payment method. You must add a new card first, set it as default, and then remove the old one.
What happens when a card expires
Section titled “What happens when a card expires”When the card on file approaches its expiration date, Bloowatch sends a notification reminding you to update your payment method. If the card expires and the next billing cycle arrives:
- The automatic charge fails
- You receive an email notification about the failed payment
- You have a short grace period to add a new card and retry the payment
- If no valid payment method is provided within the grace period, your account may be suspended until payment is resolved
To avoid any disruption, update your payment method before your card expires.
Update your payment method before renewal
Section titled “Update your payment method before renewal”If you know your card is about to expire or you want to switch to a different card:
- Add the new card (Step 3 above)
- Set it as default (Step 4 above)
- Optionally remove the old card (Step 5 above)
This ensures the next renewal charge goes to the correct card without any interruption.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”| Mistake | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| ”Payment method declined” | Card has insufficient funds or bank-side restrictions | Try a different card or contact your bank to authorize the charge |
| ”I can’t find the Payment Methods page” | You are not logged in as the Owner | Only the Owner role can access billing settings — ask the account owner |
| ”I removed my card and now I can’t pay” | The only card was removed (should not be possible, but edge case) | Add a new card immediately to restore the payment method |
| Card expired and subscription suspended | The expiration notification was missed | Log in, add a new card, and retry the payment — the account will be reactivated |
If it still doesn’t work
Section titled “If it still doesn’t work”- Check that you have the Owner role — other roles cannot access billing settings
- If your card is repeatedly declined, contact your bank to confirm there are no blocks on international or recurring transactions
- Try a different card from a different bank or card network
- Contact Bloowatch Support via the chat widget or at support@bloowatch.com — they can check the status of your billing account
